Professor Symonds is the Deputy Vice Chancellor, Academic and Professor of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at the International Medical University (IMU), Malaysia.
Professor Symonds has been a chief investigator on a range of research studies, has published more than 80 peer review papers and is the immediate past editor of the Journal of Obstetrics and Gynaecology.
He has led several major curriculum change processes and innovations in both national and local settings including the development of the Fellowship curriculum for specialist training in O&G in Australia and New Zealand. He has published a number of undergraduate textbooks and has a Masters Degree in Clinical Education.
Professor Symonds has held a number of national leadership roles including the presidency of the Medical Deans of Australia and New Zealand and Vice President of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists and is the current Dean of Education at the College.
