Dr Sivabala Selvaratnam continues to serve the Ministry of Health, Malaysia (since 2001); during which he was bestowed the Excellence in Service Award twice. He obtained his medical degree from Bangalore University, India and started off his medical career at Hospital Taiping as a House Officer; then went on to practice Obstetrics and Gynaecology at Hospital Raja Permaisuri Bainun, Ipoh.
He continued his training in Obstetrics & Gynaecology in the United Kingdom after being accepted into the International Doctors Training Programme (IDTP) offered by the Royal College of Obstetricians & Gynaecologists (RCOG). He holds a full registration with the General Medical Council (UK) as well as the Malaysian Medical Council (MMC).
Aside from women’s health, Dr Sivabala is also passionate about the work carried out by the Malaysian Medical Association (MMA). He is currently the Chairman of SCHOMOS, MMA. SCHOMOS is the Section Concerning House Officers, Medical Officers & Specialists. It is the national body and voice of all government doctors in Malaysia. He is a Life Member of the MMA as well as the OGSM (Obstetrical & Gynaecological Society of Malaysia).
