Professor Helen worked as a clinician for the Ministry of Health of Malaysia for 12 years, and then moved on to a private hospital where she worked for nine years. In 2012, she joined Universiti Malaysia Sabah and currently serves as the Director of HUMS. Her previous roles include the head of the Department of Reproductive Health, the Deputy Dean of Clinical Services, and the Deputy Dean of Postgraduate and Research in the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, UMS. Her leadership was recognized in May 2023 when she was appointed as a member of the Majlis Wanita dan Keluarga Negara, and in October 2023, she received the Ahli Setia Darjah Kinabalu (A.S.D.K) Medal of Honour from Sabah.
She is an active member of medical societies and NGOs. She chaired MERCY Malaysia Sabah Chapter for 14 years. Her interests include women's health, rural community well-being, and she has published in peer-reviewed journals. Her latest book, "Ketara Sedar: Teknik Mengatasi Tekanan Kehidupan," was published in 2023.
