Assoc Prof Sivakumar S. Balakrishnan

Graduated from University Science of Malaysia 1993 with MD.
Completed the training and obtained Masters in O&G in 2000 from University Malaya, Kuala Lumpur.
Began a three-year Subspecialty fellowship training in the field of Urogynaecology in 2005 with 1 year training in James Cook University in Townsville, Queensland, Australia under the supervision of Prof Ajay Rane. (2006)
Returned to Penang, Malaysia and established the Urogynaecology unit in Hospital Pulau Pinang in the year 2007. The Urogynaecology unit also serves as a training centre for new Urogynaecologists.
Published papers in journals and given many lectures and involved in providing public education related to urinary problems and prolapse and other Urogynaecological problems in Malaysia.
Member of the National Urogynaecology subcommittee for NSR in Ministry of Health Malaysia/MMC.
Founder Secretary and Past President of the Malaysian Urogynaecology Society which was established in 2013.
Member of the IUGA Education Subcommittee since 2013 till 2018
The South East Asia representative in the International Advisory Board of the IUGA 2019-2021
Current Chair of the Membership Committee of IUGA (Term 2024-2025)
Honorary Secretary, and Past President of Penang Medical Practitioners Society
